My New Love: Digital Scrapbooking

I am so very behind on my scrapbooking!  I was keeping up pretty well until we had Madalyn!  It’s amazing how one more child can consume so much time!  I don’t think I have sat down and worked on my scrapbooks for over a year!  That is crazy.

So today I decided to spend some time doing some digitial scrapbooking.  I like making storyboards for my photography clients and that really is just a form of digital scrapbooking.  So I downloaded some papers and things and went to work.  I think they’re pretty good for my first attempts!  And I was able to crank out eight pages in about three hours.  I’m sure I’ll get quicker the more I do it.  I love that I can size my photos exactly like I want them.  No cropping, no wishing I had a larger photo on a page.  I don’t have to guess at sizing my journaling because I can do it right there on the screen!

I still love traditional scrapbooking but I can totally see myself using up all my supplies and going to digital only.  We’ll see.  So here are some examples from today.  I got all of the papers and elements from Shabby Princess.  They have some really beautiful stuff and it’s all FREE!  You can’t beat that.  I plan to have them printed at my pro lab so I’m sure they will look great printed!

The Tree Without Leaves

I showed Annagrace this photo that I took several months ago and she said, “Mom, why would anyone take a photo of a tree without leaves?”!   This was taken at the end of Winter this year as a cold front was moving through.  It was a fairly warm day (for a winter day anyway) and then you could feel the temperature drop as the front moved through.  It was pretty cool.  And I thought it was a pretty cool photo even if Annagrace didn’t like it!

Look what Annagrace did!

She got her ears pierced!  I can’t believe it!  Here is a photo I took when we got home.  She was a very brave girl and only cried for about 30 seconds!  I have the video of it posted on my Myspace page!

Well, we’re moving on up . . .

Well, actually moving on down to Greenville NC.  My family of four will be relocating to Greenville sometime next year.  You can read more about the move over on my Counting My Pennies blog but I wanted to mention it here for those who follow this blog but not the other one.

My hope is that with moving, my photography business can grow and expand and that my new job (whatever that may end up being!) will allow me time to give to my business.  I’m looking forward to the future and whatever God has in store for us.  It is exciting but stressful around here these days!

Zachary Lane

Here are a few photos of my very adorable new nephew, Zachary.  Isn’t he beautiful?  He looks so much like my brother when he was a baby, but also resembles his mom and his big brother, Brayden!  I love this little boy already!

Madalyn was absolutely smitten with him.  (I don’t think the feeling is mutual just yet though by looks on his face in that photo!)  She loves baby “Zacha-wee”!

And here is a new photo that I am just loving of my friend Jenny’s daughter, Amber.  The lighting was so pretty it just lit her face right up!

And one more of the girls on our trip to NC last weekend.  This is Madalyn, Annagrace, Amber and Taylor at the North Carolina Estuarium.  They really enjoyed the exhibits.  And we all learned what an estuarium actually is (google it if you don’t know!).

Two months and counting!

Aaron is already sick of hearing about it!  But it’s TWO MORE MONTHS until the New Kids concert!!!!!!  My heart just skipped a beat thinking about it.  Jon, Jordan, Danny, Donnie, Joe–OMG I can’t wait!  And have I mentioned that my girl Steph and I are in the 17th row from the stage?!?!?!

My Grumpy Girls

I haven’t gotten a really good photo of my girls together since . . . well, actually never.  I have a few here and there but they aren’t all that great.  (It’s hard enough to get Madalyn to sit still long enough by herself to get a photo!)  So I had big plans and high hopes for a photo shoot with them this afternoon.  We headed to my in-law’s farm along with my assistant (Aaron!), my tripod, a wooden chair, some bubbles and my reflector.  And the girls were terrible!  They would not cooperate AT ALL.  I only took about 20 photos and they were done.  And Aaron and I were done.  We probably got a little more upset than we should have actually!  I was able to catch this one photo (and maybe one more) that turned out okay.  It isn’t technically perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it is a sweet one of my two little ones (who really aren’t so little anymore!).

A Whole New World

Well, sorta. So I have decided to move my photography blog from blogger to wordpress. I just like wordpress’s layout better–it’s much easier to navigate. But when I realized how much work it would ge to really “move” all my posts from my other blog (I have 3 years worth of stuff on there) I decided against it and I will just keep that blog up and will start this one fresh!

I like that I can put up galleries of photos. It makes it easy to click on and instantly see a display of my work! So check out the little tabs above. It may take me awhile to get all the stuff up there that I want up there. If you’ve had a session with me in the last year, you’ll probably see your photo somewhere in there!

My First Real Post

My new blog looks so plain so I thought I’d put a photo up!

This is my 6 year old. Yes, she’s only 6! She is growing up before my eyes and I don’t like it one bit. She looks so grown up in this picture! I love this little bundle of energy! She is witty, sarcastic (don’t know where in the world she got that from!), happy, energetic, funny and caring. She loves Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers and Queen. She sings along in the car, rocks out with her mp3 player, and loves to dance. She fights with her sister, but is the first to go to her when she’s crying or hurt. She is sensitive but stubborn. She loves her friends. She doesn’t like to see people hurt, or sad, or upset. She is a good friend and as her teacher Mrs. Remnant always told us, a ‘real gem’. That’s my girl! Love, love, love her!
